Way back in 2014, we started making cookies out of peas. Sweet, salty, crunchy and creamy… 100% all natural and vegan… our green pea cookies made everyone happea!

Unfortunately, we had a hard time getting them on the store shelves. As much as grocery buyers wanted our product, they always preferred to buy it through a distributor. That didn’t work for us. Our margins would get smooshed. Our cookies wouldn’t be as fresh. So in other words, our customers would be paying premiums for old products.

If you have ever been to a grocery store, you probably think eating well means paying a lot. And if you’re a small food maker or a grocery buyer, this scene might look familiar to you…

Sigh. There we were, just trying to get by and sell our scrumptious cookies to Frank at his sweet, local market… Unfortunately, even Frank wanted us to go through a distributor. Darn.

The thing is, going direct isn’t easy either. There’s no uniform process. We found ourselves driving around the Bay Area like nut-cases to follow up on $20 worth of cookie-cases… oh golly.
